Scope and Contents
Artificially compiled collection of photographs and papers relating to Rockingham County Schools. Papers include Charles A. Turner's (1875-1969) teaching contracts and teaching certificates for schools in Rockingham County and Hardy County , West Virginia. Printed ephemera includes a Dayton High School commencement program, basketball schedule, and a Turner Ashby High School vs. Harrisonburg High School football program and roster. Shenandoah Collegiate Institute and School of Music (Dayton) ephemera includes an addressed postcard and felt pennant. Photographs document several historic Rockingham County schools: Harmony School, Oak Grove School, Victory Hill School, Sunnyside School, Mt. Tom School, Shady Oakes/Oak Shade School, first school in Keezletown, and Montezuma School.
